OS X Mail: Synchronizing (Subscribing to) Folders (including Departmental Mailboxes)
Use this only if you use another mail client and your folders are not showing up. Otherwise, OS X Mail does things automatically.
If you use JMU Webmail or another e-mail client, then you may wonder how you can synchronize the folders/mailboxes on your Mac in OS X Mail with the folders you have created on the server with Webmail or another e-mail client.
The easiest way is to synchronize is to follow these steps:
- Go to Mail>Preferences.
- Go to Accounts>Advanced.
- Put a check mark in the box beside Automatically synchronize changed mailboxes.

Using this process manually just takes a couple of steps:
- Open OS X Mail.
- Click Mailbox on the Menu Bar.
- Click Mailbox on the Menu Bar again.
- Select the option to Synchronize. After Synchronize, you should see
your e-mail address in quotes similar to the example below.

- You will then see what looks like a wheel spinning toward the upper right hand corner of
your screen.
- When this is complete, your mailboxes/folders should match what you have on the server.
