Welcome to the Web home of the Public Relations Council of the Shenandoah Valley.

Established in 1995, the PRC is committed to enhancing public relations expertise in the Valley and to increasing public understanding of the critical role the ethical practice of public relations performs in developing thriving communities, businesses, institutions and organizations.

The Council additionally provides a forum for public relations professionals to more fully develop their potential. Members share expertise and resources, educate themselves on current issues and the best practices and technologies in the field.

The PRC meets on the last Tuesday of each month (except July, November and December) for a luncheon. In addition to serving as an excellent vehicle for networking, PRC luncheon meetings feature programs on topics of interest such as crisis communications, cost-cutting methods, electronic communications and publications.

In November, the PRC holds its annual Media Appreciation Event where the local media are recognized for outstanding journalistic and public service accomplishments. The Council also holds an annual evening social event for members and spouses/guests. Both special events have been funded in the past by Council dues. Annual dues for the PRC are $50 per person. The luncheons are $10.50 per person.

For information about joining the PRC, feel free to contact Eric Gorton, Treasurer, at 540-568-3674 or gortonej@jmu.edu. A printable membership application is available here: PRC-Application.pdf.
