We visited London from Dec. 28, 2010 to Jan. 4, 2011 with the JMU Marching Royal Dukes, who performed in the 25th Annual New Years Day Parade and Festival.
We were supposed to leave from Washington, D.C. on Dec. 27, fly to Heathrow and then take a bus to Paris, where we were to stay for the first couple days. However, an east coast snowstorm that hit New York City created havoc with a lot of flights. Two of seven flights our group was flying on made it out on time, from Dulles Airport in Washington. The people on those flights did go to Paris as scheduled. Our flight, even though scheduled from Dulles, was delayed a day because our flight crew could not make it on time. We did not get to see Paris, but we did get an extra day in London.
The flights leaving from New York and New Jersey were several days late, but everyone made it to London for the parade.
